Abstract Advancing Objective Assessment of Physical Activity and Sedentary Behavior provides an overview of machine learning, which involves using a mathematical and statistical analysis as a means to assess physical activity and inactivity. The video also reviews how machine learning, in an adapted laboratory environment, can be used to explain bodily responses to sedentary behavior and physical activity. In addition, the video discusses the use of mobile devices to self-report activity in intervention studies. In that regard, the video explores the fact that these devices are increasingly capable of sophisticated, real-time information processing and that most people have ready access to these technologies.
