Three programs on one DVD and the workshop outlines and activities from the facilitator's guide provide everything you need to Explain the needs and benefits of a balanced and comprehensive approach to assessing students. Help teachers develop and use assessment tasks that provide a more complete picture of what students know. Show how students can participate in their own assessments. Demonstrate to all staff members ways to use student achievement data to improve student performance. Use program 1, A Comprehensive Approach, to introduce a comprehensive approach to assessment. Classroom scenes show educators using a number of collaborative activities to analyze and evaluate student work. Program 2, Using a Range of Assessment Tools, demonstrates how teachers use a variety of assessment tools to go beyond the 'snapshot approach' of standardized tests and create a 'photo album' of student growth. Show program 3, Reflective Assessments, to give teachers and other audiences ideas for why and how they can encourage students to become independent learners who can assess their own performance. |
