Abstract |
Antarctica is under threat. This film has 5 clips which explore the possible futures for Antarctica. Each clip can be used individually and the clips cover diverse topics including: the arguments for and against scientists travelling to this remote continent, an introduction to the idea of researching glaciers and how this research can link to theories on the rate of climate change, the conditions of the International Antarctic treaty, the ecological footprint of the tourist trade,and finally a look at how as the ice melts more rock is exposed opening up the possibility of mining rigs being built, as they have been in the Arctic.
