A photograph album kept by a North Carolina girl in the Sandhills region from 1914 to 1921. For at least 1914 and 1915 she was a student at North Carolina College for Women in Greensboro, North Carolina. The album documents her life at NCCW and her home life including May Day fetes in Carthage in 1914 and 1920 and in Oxford in 1921, boating, hiking, driving and dancing. World War I shows a minor presence with an advertisement enticing young American men to fly for France, a 1918 photograph of a serviceman at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and a 1919 photo showing Lieutenants Frank C. Stanford and Roy B. Richmond in their airplane. |
