Scope and content This collection consists of seven postcards mailed to Miss Augusta Oden of Pinetown, North Carolina, illustrating locations in Washington, Greenville, and Morehead City, North Carolina. Included are Atlantic Hotel in Morehead City (1908), Main Street in Washington (1908-1910), the Court House in Washington, the Washington Hospital, and Evans Street in Greenville (1908).

Biographical noteAugusta Lois Oden was born November 14, 1877, in Beaufort County, North Carolina, to Alpha Oden and W. A. Oden. She married Charles J. Berthel, a mechanical engineer originally from Saxony, Germany, on August 9, 1911, and died on May 5, 1961, in Washington, NC, where she was then buried in Oakdale Cemetery.
