Captain Frank G. Edwards, USNA Class of 1941, comments on his childhood in an Army family, experiences at the Naval Academy, assignment to the USS MAHAN, and absence of the MAHAN from Pearl Harbor at the time of the Japanese attack. Other details concern the shipboard experiences of officers and crew of the USS FOOTE, flight training, postwar aviation experiences with prop and jet airplanes, aviational innovations, and the testing of new airplanes. |
