This oral interview documents many aspects of Puryear's career as a U.S. Marine Corps officer. Puryear describes his education, his service during two World Wars, various posts he was assigned to, U.S. foreign policy, and notable Marine generals. Puryear spent the bulk of his career as a quartermaster during the two World Wars with posts in Cuba, the Philippines, France, Germany, New Zealand, Haiti, Port Royal, S.C., Mare Island, S.C., Quantico, and Washington, D.C. |
