Abstract For eight years, the Taliban and Al-Qaeda bogged down U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, all the while seizing territory and creating chaos in nuclear-armed Pakistan. National Geographic documented the fight on the ground and in the skies above these border regions controlled by the Taliban, known as "Talibanistan." In Pakistan, this program investigates nuclear weapon security, inquires about the CIA Predator drone program, and travels to Kapisa Province, Afghanistan, just north of Kabul, with a team of social scientists assigned to help the military better understand the people.
