Abstract After the costly, bitter stalemates in Korea and Vietnam, the U.S. Army makes a dizzying transition to a new kind of fighting force. The changes pay off, bringing the Cold War to an end and crushing Iraqi aggression in the Gulf War. The video concludes with a profile of the new Army, a high-tech fighting machine that includes quick-strike and special forces units that distinguish themselves in the Balkans and Afghanistan.
