Abstract In this historical speech to the nation on April 30, 1973, President Nixon outlines the timeline of events of the Watergate Affair and announces the resignations of White House Chief of Staff Bob Haldeman, Assistant to the President for Domestic Affairs John Ehrlichman, and White House Counsel John Dean. Having thus addressed and dispensed with Watergate, Nixon says, of the 1,361 remaining days of his term, "I want these to be the best days in America's history.
