Abstract Story traditions reveal as much about long-vanished societies as any ruin or artifact-perhaps more so. This program recounts myths and legends from early civilizations as it travels to ancient architectural sites around the world. Egyptian pyramids and hieroglyphs serve as backdrops for the sun-god narratives of Aton and later Theban-based mythologies, while the saga of the Olympian pantheon resonates among the fallen pillars of Athens, Sparta, Delphi, and other locations. In South and Southeast Asia, viewers encounter the tales of Brahma, Vishnu, Chandra, Rama, and other deities still venerated in the Hindu religion. Likewise, in Andean and Central America, the legends of Tlaloc, Quetzalcoatl, and Tezcatlipoca prove to be very much alive.
