Engaging with such historical events as the Holocaust, the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the war in Vietnam, the reunification of Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the conflicts between India and Pakistan, these artists use the semi-documentary format to delve into the very nature of trauma. Offering ways of comprehension that go beyond the dichotomy of head-on confrontation versus denial or repression, the five video installations in the exhibition suggest a more nuanced and complex relationship between the original event and its present ramifications. They confound the relation between fact and artifice, truth and art, through a variety of formal methods.0Exhibition: Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, St. Louis, USA (February 2014). 650 0 Psychic trauma in art |vExhibitions. |=^A629465 650 0 Video art |vExhibitions. |=^A531978 650 0 Installations (Art) |vExhibitions. |=^A535506 949 |i30372013909137 |ojjlm 960 |o1 |s30.00 |tJoyner48 |uJAPP |zUSD 598 JNEWBOOKS 596 1 998 3502943
