State of Massachusetts-Bay. In the House of Representatives, June 8, 1779 : Whereas it appears that an agreement was made between the four New-England states ... to keep up a certain number of men in the state of Rhode-Island, so long as the enemy kept in force there ... resolved, that eight hundred men, non-commissioned officers included, in addition to those ordered to be raised to be under the command of Colonel Jacobs, be raised to serve ... in the following manner.
