In Provincial Congress, New-York, June 3, 1775 : Whereas, the Continental Congress, in their resolution, of the 15th ult. have recommended to the inhabitants of this city, that if the troops which are expected, should arrive here, this colony act on the defensive, so long as it may be consistent with their safety and security.
