Bounty begins a two-year mission. The ship travels to Tahiti to obtain breadfruit plants that will provide cheap food for slaves in the West Indies, the Bounty's final destination. The captain is William Bligh, a vicious taskmaster who doesn't flinch at giving two dozen lashes to any malcontent on board, for the most minor of infractions. The first mate is Lt. Fletcher Christian, who despises Bligh but has somehow earned the captain's respect. Bligh makes life miserable for the crew, and after the Bounty leaves Tahiti for the West Indies, Bligh orders the ship's doctor, a dying man, to stand on deck despite his illness. The doctor dies, which begins a chain reaction of anger leading to Christian leading a mutiny against Bligh. 500 Special features: 1935 short Pitcairn Island Today; Academy Award newsreel; theatrical trailers. 540 This Blu-ray disc is copy protected. 586 Academy Award, 1935: Best picture. 600 10 Bligh, William, |d1754-1817 |vDrama. |=^A92891 600 10 Christian, Fletcher, |d1764-1793 |vDrama. |=^A143113 610 20 Bounty (Ship) |vDrama. |=^A56673 650 0 Blu-ray discs. |=^A1097859 650 0 Bounty Mutiny, 1789 |vDrama. |=^A247291 650 0 Mutiny |vDrama. |=^A40547 650 0 Ship captains |vDrama. |=^A652189 650 0 Historic ships |vDrama. |=^A235574 651 0 Tahiti (French Polynesia : Island) |vDrama. |=^A884512 651 0 Great Britain |xHistory |y1760-1789 |vDrama. |=^A42495 700 1 Lloyd, Frank, |d1887-1960. |=^A525567 700 1 Jennings, Talbot. |=^A1044875 700 1 Furthman, Jules. |=^A121878 700 1 Wilson, Carey, |d1889-1962. |=^A399653 700 1 Laughton, Charles, |d1899-1962. |=^A223803 700 1 Gable, Clark, |d1901-1960. |=^A29514 700 1 Tone, Franchot. |=^A525565 700 1 Mundin, Herbert, |d1898-1939. |=^A525566 700 1 Quillan, Eddie, |d1907-1990. |=^A1068547 700 1 Digges, Dudley, |d1879-1947. |=^A1068548 700 1 Crisp, Donald, |d1880-1974. |=^A410277 700 1 Stephenson, Henry, |d1871-1956. |=^A1043892 700 1 Lister, Francis, |d1899-1951. |=^A609722 700 1 Byington, Spring, |d1886-1971. |=^A1002616 700 1 Hall, James Norman, |d1887-1951 |tMutiny on the Bounty. |=^A634865 700 1 Nordhoff, Charles, |d1887-1947. |tMutiny on the Bounty. |=^A495582 710 2 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. |=^A261860 710 2 Warner Home Video (Firm) |=^A399560 949 PN1997 .M875 2010 Blu-ray |hjoyner150 |oGift jrmd 994 C0 |bERE 596 1 998 3086982
