Abstract Shortly after the Bolshevik Revolution, Lenin created a Special Cabinet aimed to "combat the enemies of Soviet Power." Working in secrecy, Russian scientists devised the most advanced methods of poisoning to eliminate political opponents. As seen in the recent mysterious death of journalist Alexander Litvinenko, the Poison Laboratory continues to thrive in post-Soviet Russia today.
