Taken from the viewpoint of those loyal to the Hanoverian Crown, the three mainland campaigns of 1715-6, 1719 and 1745-6 are examined, using research based on primary sources: memoirs, diaries, letters, newspapers and state papers. Oates looks at how the eighteenth-century military machine operated in a domestic context, as well as its effectiveness. Such a focus adds a new dimension to the study of this period, and allows for further questions as to the uniqueness of the Jacobite rebellions. --Publisher description. 650 0 Jacobite Rebellion, 1715 |xCampaigns. |=^A1113194 650 0 Jacobite Rebellion, 1719 |xCampaigns. |=^A363757 650 0 Jacobite Rebellion, 1745-1746 |xCampaigns. |=^A848905 651 0 Great Britain |xHistory |yGeorge I, 1714-1727. |=^A115591 651 0 Great Britain |xHistory |yGeorge II, 1727-1760. |=^A59796 651 0 Great Britain |xHistory, Military |y18th century. |=^A119015 830 0 Warfare, society and culture ; |vno. 3. |=^A1107798 938 YBP Library Services |bYANK |n100554076 938 Coutts Information Services |bCOUT |n16880694 938 Blackwell Book Service |bBBUS |n100554076 949 DA813 .O28 2011 |hJoyner48 |i30372013878696 |ojjlm 910 PromptCat 994 92 |bERE 596 1 998 2778072
