General noteAttributed to Francis Bernard by Sabin. However, Mrs. S. E. Higgins, in her The Bernards of Abington and Nether Winchendon (vol. 2., p. 249) called the attribution of this pamphlet to Sir Francis Bernard "an error." The evidence for ascribing the authorship of this pamphlet to Benjamin Franklin is presented by V. W. Crane in "Certain writings of Benjamin Franklin on the British Empire and the American colonies," in Papers of the Bibliographical Society of America (vol. 28, pt. 1 [1934), p. 14-15). Sabin attributes the pamphlet to a Boston press; Evans to James Rivington in New York.
