Abstract |
In each segment, running about 8 minutes each, children of similar ages with noticeable and non-visible physical and health differences such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, amputations, diabetes, hearing loss, and epilepsy talk about their hopes, dreams, and the activities they enjoy. Groups of children and teens are shown taking part in many different activities, including skiing with sit down skis, hanging out at the mall, playing at a playscape, and enjoying a water park while they talk about friends and other important things in their lives. Viewers will realize that these youngsters are very much like themselves even though they have special needs. The positive tone, upbeat music, and graphics give the right message to students who might have special needs students in their classes. All the children and teens interviewed have pride in themselves. Be aware that there might be a problem playing this DVD-R on some players purchased prior to 2001. This program will educate students, teachers, and parents and promote inclusion and understanding of kids with special needs. |
