Scope and content Captain Frank P. Cuccias, a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1941, was assigned to the USS Brooklyn for convoy duty in the North Atlantic before and after U.S. entry into World War II. He was involved in the Allied invasion of North Africa in 1942 and subsequently was assigned to Naval aviation where he remained as an instructor until 1945. Post war duty included assignments to the Surface Squadron in Bermuda, anti-submarine warfare, Naval War College, and duty in the USS WASP. He also participated in "Operation Mariner" in the North Atlantic and commanded a squadron in Japan. All of the above topics are covered in the interview.
