Boston, March 15, 1782 : Whereas the General Court of this commonwealth on the eighth day of March instant did resolve, "That eighty-five men ... be immediately raised within the town of Boston, as said town's proportion for compleating and recruiting the Massachusetts line of the Continental Army."--and whereas the General Court did further resolve ... to class the inhabitants of said town ... into eighty-five classes ... each person contained in such class shall pay towards procuring the man for said class ... In compliance with said resolves, the assessors ... have fixed upon the under-written persons to compose one class, viz. To Mr. [blank] head of class, no. [blank] in ward no. [blank].
