Abstract |
" ...The Cherokee and Catawba Indians were on the warpath against the white man, and Guy Sands and his friends, escaping from slavery on a tobacco plantation in North Carolina, had to fight for their lives. Guy had been mistaken for a Jacobite rebel in England in 1746 and was sentenced to transportation to America where he was sold as a slave. Ill-luck dogged his footsteps but he had some staunch friends who helped him. It was his honesty and courage, however, that made him win through in his wild dash to warn the coastal Colony and bring help to the beleaguered fort up-country." Dust jacket. |
