Abstract This study includes a brief biography of George Frederick Bristow, and an examination of the musical and cultural milieu in which he composed. The complete orchestral output of Bristow is surveyed, with emphasis given to the four purely orchestral symphonies. Musical examples are included, as well as a complete discography of Bristow's orchestral works.
