This collection includes the personal records of Mabel Adeline Daniels (ňe Grant) during her time as a student at the East Carolina Teachers Training School (1918-1919). The first series includes a photograph of her classmates at ECTTS, a picture of Mabel on her wedding day, and two carte de visites. The second series includes two children's books that she wrote and illustrated for her education courses at the school. The third series contains two programs for musical recitals held on campus, a booklet of patriotic songs, and a card for the 1919 Philathea Methodist Banquet. The fourth series includes Mabel's school scrapbook, which contains newspaper clippings of poetry and photographs/carte de visites from Greenville, NC (1918-1919). The fifth series contains her personal diary from her time at ECTTS, which not only describes her everyday life as a student, but also includes references to the North Carolina influenza outbreak and the end of World War I. The sixth series includes a quotation book of excerpts and poems that Mabel assembled during her schooling. |

Biographical note | Mabel A. Grant, 1897-1951, enrolled at the East Carolina Teachers Training School in Greenville, North Carolina in June of 1918. She married Benjamin William Daniels, a naval officer from Goldsboro, on December 24, 1919 and had four children. |
