In this oral history interview Kenneth Hammond discusses his time as both a student and an employee at East Carolina University including his work in the various incarnations of the student union, campus events, helping found the school's first African American Greek organization Alpha Phi Alpha, and events related to the civil rights movement. |

| Biographical note | Kenneth Hammond is a former East Carolina University employee and alumnus who worked as the associate director in Mendenhall Student Center and as the director of Minority Arts Programming for the Minority Arts Committee. After leaving ECU, Hammond served as the senior pastor Union Baptist Church in Durham, N.C. and was awarded several honors by ECU for his service and dedication to the university. |
