Uniform titleEs geht durch die Welt ein Geflüster (Motion picture)
Abstract "7 November 1918: revolution in Munich. After a mass demonstration Kurt Eisner leads a crowd to the barracks. War-weary soldiers eagerly desert. The king and his entourage flee. The Bavarian Republic comes into being without bloodshed. Revolutionary and reactionary forces subsequently fight for power by every means. Eisner is assassinated. Successive council republics collapse in short order. The fledgling democracy, fragile and reeling, is violently crushed. Filmed in 1988, There's a Whisper Spreading round the World interweaves historical film footage and interviews with the last surviving eyewitnesses from Munich's anarchist, socialist, and communist milieux: working-class children and adolescents who lived through the Bavarian Revolution, sympathized with it, fought for it. The achievements and failures of the revolution are treated here, including topics as diverse as leftist infighting and heroines of the women's movement. Prominently featured among the latter are the lesbian couple Anita Augspurg and Lida Gustava Heymann, the revolutionaries Hilde Kramer, Zenzi Mühsam, Sarah Sonja Lerch, and Hedwig Kämpfer, sole female justice of the revolutionary tribunal." --DVD container
