Abstract Entrepreneur Nathaniel Russell Goldston III was born on October 20, 1938 in Omaha, Nebraska. Goldston earned his B.S. degree in business administration in hotel and restaurant management at University of Denver in 1962. Goldston worked in food service for ten years before starting his own business in 1975, Gourmet Services, Inc. Located in Charlotte, North Carolina with 300 employees, the company acquired contracts at six black colleges and earned revenues of $2.3 million its first year. In 1976, Gourmet Services moved to Atlanta, Georgia at the suggestion of former Mayor Maynard Jackson. After relocating, the business grew into the nation's largest African American-owned food service management company with 2,500 employees. In 1986, with twenty-one other local businessmen and civic leaders, Goldston founded the Atlanta Chapter of 100 Black Men of America. In 1989, he became 100 Black Men's second national president. Gourmet Services donated millions of dollars to student scholarships.
