Copy is bound in green cloth stamped in gilt. The pigment used to create the color green found on the covers of the book contains arsenic as confirmed by X-ray Fluorescence testing performed by the Queen Anne's Revenge Conservation Lab staff in August 2020. All edges of text block gilt. Also includes inscription within pencil sketch of a scroll on half-title page:" Presented to: Mrs. Julia A. Bevins by her cousin William, April 25, 1855." |
