Abstract Former teachers and pupils from the 1950s-1970s return to Bonner Street Primary School in London's East End as the original 1876 building is demolished. Seeing their Victorian school turning to rubble brings back many memories, from the outside toilets, corporal punishment and tough times of the post war era to the new influx of young teachers in the 70s, the hippy clothing, the creativity, and the daily pint of milk warming in the sun. Former teachers share memories of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, stress free exams, children playing with spinning tops in the streets, as well as recollections of wearing pants and vests in gym classes and stories of Nitty Nora , the school nurse.
